Library Policies

General conduct policy
It is the goal of the trustees of the Noble County Public Library to allow all patrons of the library to use its facility for the purpose for which the library was established, to the maximum extent possible during regularly scheduled hours.

Any patron not abiding by the rules and regulations of NCPL may be asked to leave the premises. Further, any patron who violates the rules and regulations of the library may be denied the privilege to use the library by the library board of trustees, upon the recommendation of the director.

Services and fees
NCPL offers many special services for our patrons to take advantage of.  We provide copy machines with color capability, faxing services, printing, scanning, laminating, and more.  For more information on our special services and associated fees, click HERE.
lending policy
The NCPL Lending Policy pertains to all materials loaned to patrons of our library, lost or stolen materials, and more.

Unattended children
In all situations the responsible individual who has transported minor children onto the library premises or who has otherwise directed or allowed minor children onto the library premises shall be solely responsible for the care and safety of such children during the entire time such children are on the library premises. The library is not responsible for the care and safety of minor children traveling to and from library premises. Out of concern for the safety and security of children using the library, the NCPL board has implemented the following rules for the libraries in Albion, Avilla, and Cromwell.

Computer use
Using the library computer system is a privilege, not a right. We ask that patrons use only programs that are available on the public desktop. Abuse of the system and/or equipment may result in denial of further computer use.

Meeting area policy
There are several meeting rooms available with varying capacities and capabilities. The purpose of the library meeting areas is to provide space for programs either sponsored by the library or initiated by the public for cultural, educational, informational, recreational or civic purposes.

Library card information
Library cards are free to residents of the NCPL taxing district (See county map). Patrons who have Evergreen Cards from other libraries may also use NCPL services. All Noble County libraries, including Kendallville, Rome City, and Ligonier, are on the Evergreen system.

Library cards may be purchased by residents of an area unserved by a public library.

Public Library Access Cards (PLAC) cards are available for purchase. Owners of a PLAC card may use many other non-Evergreen libraries in the state of Indiana including Allen County, Churubusco and Indianapolis/Marion County.
